Chicago

I now realize, part of the responsibility of a well traveled life is documenting it and sharing with others.

For every time I was able to get away I had a co worker cover a shift, a significant other bid me goodbye and someone I cared for to welcome me back. Wanderlust does have costs and duty.

Appreciate what you have, what you can see and experience. Not just the food but the history and culture. What about this beautiful place, this storied destination, sets it apart. Why did you leave home to come here. You can grab eggs and a sandwich, a cocktail and a random conversation at home. For it to mean something you need to dive in and forget home.

Chicago made me do that, more so then most cities I have been too. A city rebuilt upon a disaster, in the image of architects and artists. A thoroughfare for the best of the blues and richest pizza you can ever have.

I met Winona Ryder in the hotel lobby and although she was a high school crush, she paled in comparison to the odd character(s) and soul of Chicago. It was knee deep in the Blackhawks playoff run of their first cup and I am blessed to have been there. Cities do “come alive” as they say and I was lucky enough to be smack dab in the beating heart of one of the best.
